Bridging the Sustainability Gap: Challenges and Opportunities for the Sleep Products Industry
Sustainability is top of mind for most industries, but it can come with its share of challenges. In the bedding industry, manufacturers work hard to improve their environmental performance, and they lean on the retailers to help tell their sustainability story. However, most retailers have a hard time explaining complex sustainability practices to customers, and consumers often don’t know what to believe or how to make informed choices. Are the sustainability messages from brands and manufacturers even getting through to retailers? Do consumers care, or is this just a nice-to-have for most shoppers?
Scot Case, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the National Retail Federation (NRF), will dig into these tough questions. He’ll talk about why manufacturers and retailers find it so challenging to work together on sustainability, why it’s hard to prove environmental claims, and what we can do about greenwashing, supply chain transparency, and making sustainability easier for everyone to understand.
This session will also explore how to get more consumers, retailers, and manufacturers aligned with communicating sustainability. What’s the best way to get retailers interested? How do we make sustainability messaging resonate with consumers?
